MICHAEL CRETU, ENIGMA'S ALCHEMIST

 Hello everyone!

Welcome to my blog where I am so happy to share the painting that I was working with.

I was commissioned to paint the portrait of Michael Cretu, the musician and creator of enigma music project and I was absolutely delighted as Enigma has been my forever favorite music band since I was kid.

I made the portrait with a picture reference and I have added the piano and some symbols from each album that only fans would be able to decode. This is a mix media with oil, acrylic, golden and silver leaf.

As always, a pleasure and honor to paint and to be collected by amazing people around the world.

Thank you!

During my birthday I had the most amazing gift, or at least this is how I see it…I was commissioned to paint the portrait of Michael Cretu, the genius behind ENIGMA my favorite band since I was a child. ❤️
Sometimes, when I have a sketch ready, I can spend a couple of days just looking at it instead of painting.
During that time, I mentally paint it in sections, seeing every detail, and it creates a slightly anxious feeling of “waiting.” What am I waiting for?
Maybe it's like when you walk by a store and see something you want to buy or eat, and every day you crave it more, but you don't get around to it because you're waiting for the perfect moment, knowing it's going to happen because it's waiting for YOU.
It's like an emotion that you know evolves over time, and maybe you don't want that emotion to wear off so quickly, but I have finally applied color.

Continuing with the portrait of Cretu 🎨 🖤🩶🤍 working with acrylics it’s really an amazing experience and I think im better with acrylics when I need to paint more realistic and detailed faces.

Painting hands it's always so tricky and requires a lot of my patience but I enjoy every brushstroke, I have spent many hours working with this and I feel a lot of energy that makes me stay awake until late just for the thrill of it.

He is ready and I'm still detailing the piano.

Painting the shirt was so relaxing, easier than I thought, and also enjoyed painting the hands. The piano has been the most difficult 😁 and I can't believe it. I still need to work with the keys 🎹

Soon I will be working with the background in different shades of silver, gray and gold. I like very much to work with colors but also in monochrome or with a reduced palette of colors. This painting has taken all my attention day and night and so far it has been an adventure. By the way, I had to make my picture with Cretu! 🖤🩶🤍💛
